About Cornwallis Art
Mary-Clare’s love of nature- plants, birds, animals, etc- stems from her childhood growing up in the county of Kent, ‘the garden of England’.
She works mainly in water colour and her flower paintings, some of which are on a very large scale, are vibrant and sensual. She has moved away from precise botanical accuracy to produce images which catch the eye and spur the imagination.
As a result her loose flowing style gives each picture the opportunity to be revisited and re-interpreted.
Mary-Clare
She has studied under, amongst others, the distinguished botanical artists Rosie Sanders and Evelyn Binns and has exhibited here in the UK, America and Australia. Her work is in collections worldwide.
She is married to the actor Ian McCulloch and now lives and works in S.W. Scotland.
Mary-Clare can be contacted by phone on 01644 420368 or by e-mail. She is happy to accept commissions of any size.
The Artwork
Mary-Clare draws on inspiration from her natural surroundings in South West Scotland where there is an abundance of wild flowers, woodland birds and animals and a menagerie of domestic fowl to use as models.
